Acorn Midwifery : Press
A client of mine was breaking away to start her own endeavour as a midwife providing holistic pregnancy, birth and postnatal care to women and their families. She came to me with a fabulous concept that needed refining, and with a little magic, her beautiful new logo was born! This was then applied to stationery, flyers, advertising, product labelling and a website (a collaboration with Urszula Richards, onlineiq), all designed to reflect the ‘earthiness’ of her own approach.

Adelaide City Council : Posters
Applications were sought by the Council from the local creative arts and design community to develop a new design scheme and logo concept for ‘Christmas in the City’ to be applied to a number of materials. Part of the design brief asked for the concepts to have a uniquely Adelaide look and feel. For my submission I chose to simplify Adelaide’s iconic Mall’s balls, thus also representing baubles, which are iconic of Christmas. Not a winner with the Council, but I am happy and think the concept works a treat!

Eldredge Vineyards : Wine Labels
Another very seredipitous connection. Whilst in the Clare Valley back in 2009, with a friend/client Lorraine McLoughlin (who was promoting her then recently self-published book Barbara Robertson: An Australian artist’s life), and her husband Peter Fitzgerald (an amazing artist), I stumbled upon the cellar door at Eldredge Vineyards before (or maybe after ) lunch at Skillogalee with Peter. Winemaker Leigh Eldredge greeted us warmly and talked us through the wines with knowledge and passion, and asked what we were up to. Anyway, one thing led to another, and I was engaged to update the design of their labels for the next bottling of their wonderful (award-winning) wines. The design is still in use today and the wines are just as fabulous, if not (maturingly) better!

Hope you are seated ; ) Festival Fleurieu started its life back in 2005 as the Leafy Sea Dragon Festival, the brainchild of friend/client Lorraine McLoughlin, to showcase the artists, arts, heritage, landscape and community of the Yankalilla district. It is now a multi-award-winning biennial celebration spanning 16 days, with over 100 events in more than 50 venues across the district. I was introduced to Lorraine in mid-2008 to begin work on her first self-published book (Barbara Robertson: An Australian artist’s life) and on her recommendation I became involved in the lead up to the 2011 Festival. I am proud to have supported the last four Festivals, providing my services pro bono, including refreshing the logo (the leafy sea dragon ‘icon’ is taken from a painting by George Tetlow, one of the subjects in Lorraine’s recent book George Tetlow and Mark and Jill Pearse: Lives in art), designing stationery, posters, advertising, banners, and extensive programs and websites (with Murray Russell and Urszula Richards). As well as project managing, organising print/production and bringing in worthy collaborators along the way. And it is my greatest pleasure, and a huge honour, to be a patron of this wonderful Festival. Roll on 2019!

This led to paid work with Deb, designing and developing a website, and materials for her WKD Art is great! initiative.
